Description
Delta sleep-inducing peptide (DSIP) is a nonapeptide first isolated in 1977. It is supplied here as a reference compound for neuropeptide research.

Research background
Delta sleep-inducing peptide (Trp-Ala-Gly-Gly-Asp-Ala-Ser-Gly-Glu) was isolated in 1977 by Schoenenberger and Monnier from the blood of rabbits in sleep experiments, and named after the EEG pattern studied in that work. Decades later, no specific receptor or gene for DSIP has been identified, and its physiological role is still debated in the literature.
